Special publications

The AAG publishes an annual guide, jobs and careers brochure, occasional booklets, conference reports and other special publications.

Commemorating AAG 2020 Denver, The Rocky Mountain West: A Compendium of Geographic Perspectives offers a broad range of geographic insights about the region. Unfortunately due to widespread health concerns around the world, the annual meeting was canceled, but this special e-book lives on.

In 2015, the AAG Executive Committee published its Long-Range Plan, 2015-2025, which proposes 10 years of strategies and ideas to help take the organization into the future.

Every year the AAG publishes the Guide to Geography Programs in the Americas, an invaluable reference resource containing detailed information on undergraduate and graduate geography programs in the United States, Canada, and Latin America.

In collaboration with USGS and other partners, the AAG has published four color booklets containing new maps of the terrestrial ecosystems of Africa (2013), global ecological land units (2014), global ecological marine units (2017), and global islands (2019)

The Geographic Information Science and Technology Body of Knowledge (2006) is an important reference work and classroom resource for teachers, students, and GIS&T professionals.

The AAG has published selected papers and summaries from the North America Land Cover Summit in 2006 which drew together scientists and administrators from across the world to assess national land cover monitoring efforts across the continent and identify areas of possible collaboration.
